Project EG Civic: Wrecking Yard – DC5 Parts Haul

K swapping the EG civic requires quite a few parts from a few different models. The main part of the conversion which i am still on the hunt for is the quite common (here in Australia) K24A3. After seeing one of our local yards had one just put in the yard i decided to head there and have a look if it had a suitable engine. Unfortunately the car went into the yard without an engine – this is a common trend here were wreckers take the bits which are worth money before putting them in the self serve yard. A bit disappointed i decided I’d have a bit more of a look around the wreckers and came across this:

Not so common find in a wreckers in Australia – 2006 Honda DC5 Integra – base model.

Perfect – I need the DC5 base model axles. These are meant to suit the EG with 32mm axles. While grabbing those it suddenly dawned on me that this Integra was a manual and the box was still there! The base model has a 5 speed, rather than the sort after 6 speed and also has an open diff. Ended up grabbing the Axles, Gearbox and flywheel. Unfortunately someone had got there before me and taken the ECU, shifter assembly and throttle body and a few items off the engine.

After getting home and doing a bit of research there are a couple more parts which would be great upgrades. The K20 in the Integra runs a slightly different oil pump to the Accord Euro – it actually performs better for higher RPM and is a very common upgrade. So back to the same wrecker i went, pulled the oil pump, baffle, sump and I also got the 50 degree intake cam gear (another good upgrade for the K24)!
