Special K – Sourcing the engine!

K24 engines come in a few different cars here in Australia. CRV, Odyssey and Accord Euro all have the K24a series of engines. All are slightly different in various ways. After doing some research I came up that the accord euro was the pick and so i’ve been on the hunt for a while. Engines are around the $1000 AUD mark and I need to be frugal if i’m going to be able to complete this conversion for under $3000 Australian. After a visit to a few wreckers i worked out that these engines are actually in high demand. Not locally but they are exported to other countries. Great, this makes the hunt a bit harder. When the one below popped up at a wrecker, it sounded pretty good. Nice low km and looked pretty clean in the pics.

Arriving at the wreckers we were surprised to see this was actually a manual and in really good condition. We pulled both the engine and box from the accord. Here are some pics below:
